The Christian Institute is the data controller for the purpose of personal data shared with this site. Living Christianity is the name given to a set of Bible study materials developed by the Institute and aimed at Christians who want to be equipped to engage our contemporary world.
The Institute is a registered charity in England and Wales (no 1004774) and in Scotland (no SC039220) and a company limited by guarantee (No 2634440). The company is registered in England with its registered office at Wilberforce House, 4 Park Road, Gosforth Business Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE12 8DG.

How we obtain and use personal information
Personal information we collect:
- name and email address of those joining Living Christianity mailing list
- information provided by those who contact us with enquiries about Living Christianity
We use personal information to:
- keep in touch with those who sign up for email updates
- manage enquiries and maintain appropriate records of contact
- carry out reasonable administration of our mailings and sales
- conduct statistical analysis and improve our communications
- comply with legal and regulatory obligations and good practice
Financial information
We do not store payment card details on our servers, rather they are passed to our payment gateway providers immediately for processing and removed following a successful transaction.
Basis for processing
- We only send emails about Living Christianity to those who have given their consent to receive them. A person can withdraw their consent at any time by following the unsubscribe link in any of our emails or by emailing us at contactus@livingchristianity.org.uk.
- Processing personal data by our payment gateway providers is necessary for the performance of a contract.
- We otherwise process data in line with our legitimate interests in providing a professional service to those who seek it.
Security
We use appropriate security measures to attempt to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of personal information. We use secure server software to encrypt financial and personal information we collect online. However, the transmission of data across the internet is not completely secure. We cannot guarantee that loss, misuse or alteration of data will not occur whilst being transferred.
Sharing information
We never sell financial or personal information for any reason whatsoever.
Sometimes it is necessary to share personal information with third parties who we contract with to enable us to provide our service. For example, we use MailChimp (MailChimp's privacy policy) to deliver email updates to those who have signed up to receive them. However, we remain in control of the information and the service provider is not allowed to do anything with the information other than what we have requested. The service also enables us to gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies including gifs to help us monitor and improve our mailings.
Payment for digital materials is fulfilled by Vektor UK Ltd (Vektor's Privacy Policy) using the payment service Stripe (Stripe's privacy policy).
Worldwide transfer of data
If it is ever desirable to transfer data outside of the European Economic Area, we ensure that robust data-sharing agreements are in place. For example, MailChimp hosts its data in the US, but it has certified its compliance with the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework.
How long we keep data
We keep your personal information for as long as we need it to maintain our relationship with you or keeping the information is otherwise necessary. We take into account our need to meet any legal and regulatory obligations. These reasons vary from one piece of information to another. For example, information relating to financial transactions is kept for seven years.
When we no longer need the information, we will dispose of it securely, using specialist companies to do this work for us if necessary.
